Where: St. Peter’s Hospital, North Conference room, Lower Level, 88 Maplewood Ave. Hamilton. Take the “WEST ELEVATORS” near the cafeteria, & you will find us easily.
When: 10:30 AM- 12 PM.
We will be having a special guest speaker, Dr. Jagmeet Sethi, who will be discussing Medicinal Cannabis (Marijuana) in the general population and in the Dystonia population. So please bring questions because this will be an interactive talk! Dr. Sethi also wanted to ensure that everyone knows that she is in no way promoting Cannabis for the treatment of Dystonia since the research is not there yet to suggest its use for treatment. However, she is willing to answer any questions anyone might have (for example, how medicinal cannabis might help with chronic pain). Dr. Sethi works at a Cannabis clinic in Burlington and has lots of experience with how Medicinal Cannabis might be beneficial to some people. I am sure we will learn a lot from her about implications for persons with Dystonia! More information on the clinic can be found at https://www.sclinic.ca
DMRF Canada does not endorse any specific form of treatment - but they are always looking for ways to help patients become empowered. Both Health Canada and the College of Family Physicians has said that it should be up to an individuals health care provider to determine their best course of treatment. Please make sure any course of treatment is confirmed/approved by your Movement Disorder specialist treating your dystonia.
This is a highly anticipated event so please RSVP via this email (firstname.lastname@example.org)
