The Dystonia Medical Research Foundation (DMRF) is a trailblazer in dystonia research, methodically and aggressively pushing the boundaries of what is known about dystonia. We support work that is leading to a better understanding of the brain areas associated with dystonia, new gene discoveries, the development of new treatments through drug target identification in partnership with the pharma/biotech industry, support of clinical trials, and more. As a result, knowledge in the field has evolved significantly and research is progressing more rapidly than ever before.
However, it can be difficult to appreciate how a certain laboratory discovery about a tiny protein or cluster of neurons will lead to new treatments for the people who need relief, now. To help address questions about research, the DMRF has recorded a series of talks with our Chief Scientific Officer, Dr. Jan Teller to provide our members with more information on the state of dystonia research.
