Clinical research is an important step toward developing new treatment options, and patient participation plays a vital role in advancing our understanding of dystonia. The Stride Dystonia Study by Vima Therapeutics is one of these clinical research trials that is testing whether an investigational oral medication (VIM0423) is effective in reducing the severity of dystonia symptoms in people with isolated dystonia.
Vima Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotechnology company pioneering a new era in the treatment of movement disorders by advancing an oral therapy designed to help patients improve control of their movement by targeting the underlying cause of disease. Founded by physicians and scientists with deep expertise in movement disorders, Vima is advancing VIM0423 – a potential first-in-class investigational oral therapy – for the treatment of isolated dystonia and for Parkinson’s disease.
About the Stride Dystonia Study:
ClinicalTrials.gov ID NCT07111663
Duration: Participation in the Stride Dystonia study lasts about 24 weeks.
Eligibility: Interested potential participants may be able to join the study if the following criteria are met:
This is a 16-week clinical study for adults ages 18 - 70 with isolated dystonia to assess the effectiveness of an investigational medicine called VIM0423.
Confirmed diagnosis of dystonia that is not caused by a separate neurological disorder. If you have not been formally diagnosed, but have had symptoms consistent with dystonia for more than one year you may also be eligible.
At least two of your body parts must be affected (this could mean your neck and shoulder or two arms or any combination)
What to Expect:
During the study, participants will be assigned to take either a daily oral dose of VIM0423 or a placebo pill for the duration of the study.
Participants will attend approximately 6 in-clinic visits and have regular phone calls to check-in with the study team.
Vima will provide travel support for participants to get to and from their study site.
Locations: The study is running out of 38 centres in the United States currently. Canadians are now welcome to participate in the trials by visiting one of the sites in the US. A list of these locations is provided in the additional resources below.
Travel: There is a travel program that can provide assistance with arranging and paying (or reimbursing) for travel to and from a site for screening and study participation.
To learn more and participate, visit the Stride Dystonia site. After completing the self-assessment survey (pre-screener), someone from the study team will reach out with more information regarding site locations. (website is currently intended for US audiences only)
