Presentation By Dr. Alexandre Kreisler
Biography:
Dr. Alexandre Kreisler is a neurologist specializing in movement disorders. He has been a staff physician at Lille University Hospital in France since 2004, where he works in a department dedicated to the treatment of movement disorders, including Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, Huntington’s disease, and dystonia. His primary area of research focuses on dystonia.
Presentation Topic: Non-Motor Symptoms of Dystonia
Topic Summary:
Dystonia is characterized by involuntary, abnormal postures that may be focal or widespread and are sometimes accompanied by tremor. The objectives of this presentation are to (1) provide an overview of the non-motor symptoms experienced by people with dystonia, (2) examine their impact on daily life, and (3) discuss available approaches to managing these symptoms.
Some symptoms, such as physical and psychological pain, have long been recognized. Others can be more difficult to identify and may include challenges with social cognition, sensory disturbances, sleep disorders, and dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system
