Dystonia Investigators Pursue Pathways to the Cure

In neuroscience, a pathway is a network of interconnecting neurons. Nerve signals travel along these pathways, sparking every function in the brain and nervous system. There are 100 billion neurons-with 100 trillion connections-in the human brain. Solutions to dystonia are waiting in this vast neurological landscape, and we are committed to finding them. Researchers are quite literally exploring the pathways responsible for causing dystonia and searching for pathways to the cure. The latest grant projects awarded by the DMRF reflect exploratory studies to identify dystonia-specific neural pathways and networks and brain mechanisms that intersect with these pathways and networks.
