Volunteer Opportunity - Casinos in Alberta

Calling the Alberta Community!

We’re currently preparing for two important casino fundraisers in Edmonton and Calgary that support medical research, patient education, and community programs for those living with dystonia.

These events can raise over $80,000 each—making them one of the most effective and impactful community fundraisers we run. No other event raises this much, this quickly.

Every shift worked contributes roughly $3,000 in funding.  Whether this is your first time volunteering or you’re a returning supporter, your time and energy can have a direct, meaningful impact.

About the Casino Volunteer Role

Various volunteer positions are available, including: chip runner, count room, cashier, banker, etc. Shifts are generally from 11:00 am- 7:30 pm (day shift) or 6:45 pm to 3:45 am (night shift). Night shifts are the hardest to fill, so we would appreciate if you are able to volunteer for that shift. Casino Volunteers will receive training and meals. Transportation will be available if needed.

To volunteer in Edmonton (Casino Dates: August 19–20 at Argyle Casino):
Contact: Connie Zalmanowitz at info@dystoniacanada.org

To volunteer in Calgary (Casino Dates TBD Between – January and March 2026): Please contact Julie Leavitt at albertasupport@dystoniacanada.org

All funds raised by the Alberta government casino are used for dystonia research, awareness and at the local level for programs specially designed for those affected by dystonia.

Thank you for your support!

Seeking Casino Chairpersons

We are also recruiting Casino Chairpersons to join the volunteer executive teams in Edmonton and Calgary.

This leadership role is critical to the sustainability of these casino events and, by extension, dystonia research and support programs. If you’re interested in helping shape and guide one of our most important fundraising efforts, we want to hear from you!
